Good article about X-Pipe & H-Pipe exhausts

Postby brian on Mon Jan 05, 2009 11:01 am

My new car has an X-pipe exhaust configuration. I was wondering what the differences were between X and H pipe setups. This explains it pretty well.

Found some links on google.

Although they are not Pontiac G8 cars. Gives you good info on their characteristics.

My opinion, you get more flow out of the X pipe(depending on diameter of the joint).
H Pipes would cause a slight restriction due to the 90 degree bend for both sides of the pipe being connected. This probably helps in noise reduction or baffling.

I fear no man nor women, only God Almighty! Proverbs 1:7(KJV): "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction."
