Testimony
After years of struggling with jobs, my marriage, and my life in general, I agreed to one day go with my wife to check out a new church. She had been saved for about 10 years, and throughout those ten years, I really just dismissed her faith as a crutch, but it had become apparent to me that I too needed something in my life although I had no idea what it was.
I attended church with her that day, and the music worship at the beginning of service so moved me, I began to cry - something I hadn't done since I was a kid. I felt this sudden rush of emotions that I couldn't control and although I was embarrassed, I looked around and noticed that the people around me weren't judging me but were instead giving me nods of encouragement and seemed to be happy for me. I couldn't understand their reaction but felt comfortable around these strangers.
After service, I met a man about 9 or 10 years younger than me, but who was clearly pretty together. He greeted me warmly, introduced himself and welcomed me to the church. I spoke with him for a few minutes and on the way out, I told my wife that I really enjoyed the day there and wanted to go back the following week.
We went back the next week, and I found my new friend from the week before and struck up a conversation. I was drawn to this young man, he seemed so content, so happy with himself. We spoke at length after the service and got to know each other a bit better. This happened each time for the next few weeks and in between each Sunday, my prayer life began to explode. From what started as simply asking for His help when I needed my beloved New England Patriots to score, to real prayer, asking for His help, and for His presence in my life.
After several months of attending church, spending time in fellowship with my new friend and others as well as time talking about the Lord with my wife, I came to accept Christ in my life and as my Savior. I was baptized, about six months after my time attending my church.
