I was raised up in Spokane, WA in a Christian home with two loving parent's and two sister's, one older, one younger, I am the only son. My parents had given me my name, Jeremiah, straight out of the Bible. That's awesome!! There were two verses that my parents dedicated to me when I was born,
Jeremiah 33:3, it says, Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know. Jeremiah 9:23-24, it says, This is what the Lord says: "Let not the wise man boast of his wisdom or the strong man boast of his strength or the rich man boast of his riches, but let him who boast boasts about this: that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness justice and righteousness on earth for in these I delight," declares the Lord. After attending church every week since I was born at the age of 8 yrs, I decided to ask the Lord to come in to my heart, that is also when I was baptized where I declared my faith for the Lord. My dad, being the children's pastor at the church, had the great pleasure of baptizing me. Shortly after I was baptized I was hospitalized with a platelet disorder called Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura, I.T.P. for short. It is a disorder that mimics leukemia. The following website has more detailed info http://www.pdsa.org . When I recovered from that episode, I lived life normally until it happened again when I was 16 years old, and at the age of 18. These two hospitalizations weren't as severe but still scary. That was about the time I got involved with street racing. Not caring really about anything but myself, I was part of a car club that would stay out all night and go street racing, being reckless and stupid. I received many tickets from the police including a negligent driving ticket by the state patrol. I was getting into trouble with the law. Yikes! It was sometime later that the city opened up the drag strip to keep street racers off the streets. Every Friday night it would be open for cars that just wanted to race without getting a ticket. It helped a little but still people would street race because it was the cool thing to do. After getting a 1998 Honda Accord EX, 4 door, Leather seats, Gold Package with an automatic transmission, I really went crazy. I lowered it, put 15inch racing wheels, headers, exhaust and installed NOS on a H22 Japanese Vtec engine. I was the fastest 98 (Automatic) Accord in town, running 14 sec. in a quarter mile. A few weeks later I was racing on the drag strip against a 5.0 Mustang, after getting across the finish line my car shut off. I was like great what now? My car wouldn't start back up. I had beat the mustang but now I had no car. I ended up melting the number 1 piston completely, cracking the head, warping the headers, basically I blew up my engine on a twenty thousand dollar car. Ouch! After those 2 rough years, I received a job promotion/offer to move to Atlanta, Georgia. God was giving me great opportunities in life and I was giving Him nothing in return but shame and sin. I took the job offer at the age of 20 and moved to Atlanta. It was then that I decided that I needed to start living my life for God again and not for myself. The great thing about serving God is that He forgives us for our sins. In 1John 1:8-9 it says, "If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." I lived in Atlanta for about 3 years and flew back home to Spokane, WA, when I could, to go to my dad's church, called Shiloh Hills Fellowship. I still was searching for a church that I could belong to in Atlanta, Ga. I had asked God for help in finding a church in which I could serve Him. God made it very clear on January 31st, 2005. After getting home from work I had noticed that my I.T.P. was back and I immediately went to the hospital. I was there for the next seven days and out of work for 4 months. It was during this time that I had rededicated my life to Christ and started to fully rely on God. I knew that God had a plan for me and that I needed to follow Him. My dad was at a pastor's convention in Minneapolis, Minnesota and flew to see me in the hospital. On his way down he met a pastor of a church who had a daughter that was my age and she had I.T.P. when she was two years old. I began to go to their church and follow God. I was blessed to have these people as apart in my life. I had recently moved and my license had expired so I needed to renew it. That is when God had intervened again and introduced me to a Christian car club called Holyrollerz. I had seen a cool tricked out mini cooper in the dmv parking lot and it had a Holyrollerz Christian Car Club sticker on it. So, I went home and did some research and found out that they where a local car club that serves Christ. I was like cool, I can serve Christ and be in a car club too! After hanging out with them I had learned that a few of them went to First Baptist Church of Woodstock. So I went and heard Pastor Johnny speak on Sunday. I knew right then and there that God was calling me to this church. I began to hang out on Wednesday nights with Cross life and attend Sunday services regularly knowing that God had a purpose for me. God is truly amazing and I thank Him for everything He has given me, including His only son so that we may have eternal life! |
