Testimony
I have been to many shows in Florida, Georgia, Tennessee and Indiana since 1990. I have met many people through my travels and have found that there is a common bond between all of us. We love slammed trucks, hot cars and monster 4x4s! We can go to any show across the nation and strike up a conversation with anyone because of the similar interest. But soon I would have an entire new reason to meet other people at car shows.
I got saved on June 24th, 2001 in North Port, Florida at South Biscayne Baptist Church. I had only been going there for a few weeks. I knew that I needed to start going to church but I didn?t know why. I just felt the need to go. My wife and I looked around for a few months before we found South Biscayne. I felt a strong presence of God there. It only took my wife a week or two to get saved but I was skeptical and it took me an entire month. I kept feeling God tug at my heart until I couldn?t handle it anymore.
I still went to car shows but I wasn?t the same person that I used to be. I knew that I needed to watch my steps in front of others because they would be watching me to see how a Christian would act. Would I still behave and talk like before and would I participate in all the same things that I used too or would I live my life in a way that would be pleasing to the Lord?
God started to put weird thoughts in my head. I started to bring my Bible to the shows and have a quiet time of meditation. I started to wonder if anyone else at the show was a closet Christian also. Is there anyone else here that loves the Lord but is afraid to tell others about it? That?s when God put thought in my head to make every effort possible to meet other Christians that are interested in the sport and lifestyle of mini-truckin and other custom vehicles. I then thought about forming a nation wide club that we could use as a network to support each other and reach out to non believers. The ground work had started.
God had put the name Lost & Found in my head while discussing names for Christian rock bands. As soon as I said it, I knew what the name of the club would be. Now I had to share it with others to see what they thought of it.
I arranged to host a Bible study at Slamfest in Tampa Florida in November of 2002. Besides my wife, my 6-week-old son and myself, three others showed up. Most people would have been discouraged by such a poor turnout but I was excited to meet other Christians. We each shared our testimonies and a little about our trucks and ourselves. I shared the idea about forming a club designed for Christians and it was a hit. Lost & Found was born!
