Testimony

Well, I have to say that God truly has blessed me in life by blessing me with a Christian family and friends. My father is a Baptist minister, so I have been in church my entire life. I strongly believe that this environment has made me into the person I am.
Two years ago God opened a window of opportunity for me, as I accepted the position of Assistant Youth Director at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Cornelia, GA. Through this position I was able share Christ with the youth through the eyes of a young adult rather than a middle-aged minister. Through me, God was able to touch many lives and I thank him daily for allowing me to be the messenger.
I soon had to leave my church as I started my journey in life as a college student. The college years seem to be the most trying times for a Christian, since there are so many negative influences. I cannot say that I have been the best example of a Christian because I have failed God many times. In fact, this summer I experienced probably one of the most dramatic times in my life. I met a young man my age on May 4th, 2003 who was a friend of a friend. The first day that I met him, he convinced me to go swimming at Lake Lanier. There were seven of us that went swimming and unfortunately, only six of us were able to leave there that day. I had never really thought about the way God places individuals in your life until this day. God placed him in my life because I had begun to turn away from Christ and had forgotten what the duty of a Christian was. I began blaming myself for the death of this young man because he had rode with me to the lake and swam only because I asked him too, but after long hours of praying and crying I finally came at ease with his death. I realized that God was showing me that life is short and that I needed to walk in his way and be a witness to those around me because you never know when you could be the last person an individual talks to before they die. So if I leave no other advice just remember, to always walk with Christ and make his presence known to others.
