I grow up in a good home; my Dad and Mom were always there for my sister and me. They were and still are very hard working people. We were always involved with the Catholic Church and were constantly doing different activities, so I grew up being accustom to religion (yet, I never knew about a relationship with God).
It wasn't until about the 8th grade when I started to rebel. I got involved in gangs and a related lifestyle. As a freshman, I got ranked into a gang and it wasn't short after I started doing graffiti that my attitude changed to me against the world, while holding bitterness toward authority. A lot of my high school years were spent partying and being actively involved in gang life. I used to have bitterness towards my parents because I saw my friends having bitterness towards their parents. I started to do the same. After high school the reality of having to make something out of myself really hit me head on. I stayed partying and hanging out with friends, not knowing what the future would hold. I started working at a body shop where I met my friend Tony. He was a youth pastor at his church. He talked to me about the Lord and he took me to a Harvest Crusade where Greg Laurie was speaking. This was the night I gave my life to the Lord. After this, Tony taught me a lot about living for the Lord and what that meant. Since then my life has never been the same. I am know involved with working with youth at the Light Club, which is our youth center from my church Oasis Family Church. I decided to work with the youth because I know the struggles that they deal with. I relate my experiences with what they are going through now. And I know that God has a special anointing for the youth of this day and age. I hope by me becoming a member of this car club that I will reach out to not only the youth, but to car lovers in my city and the world. |
