Testimony

I grew up in church more or less my entire life. Though with my parents being divorce it was always sort of back and forth, and I never settled into a church or really got involved. I knew about god more or less who he was and what he expected from us and I guess thought of myself as a christian ya know "I accept god as my lord and savior. That he was crucified died for my sins and on the third day rose from the dead...". When I was 16 or so I started drinking with my friends at school, because well my mom had such a tight leash there was no other time. We would drink Vodka mixed half and half with gatorade straight out of the gatorade bottle in class or wherever. Nobody noticed and we were good at hiding it...stay out of the teachers face and don't breath on anyone. That grew into a full on alcohol addiction by the time I was 18 and moved out all the while hiding it from my family. I was a functioning alcoholic I had a great job mad really good money so it wasn't a problem. It just continued to get worse and worse effecting and ripping apart relationships and myself along the way. 4 years and 2 dui's later I had come to terms with the fact that I had a drinkig problem and I was smoking cigs but not being able to stop after multiple attempts all the while hiding every aspect of this from my family. In January of 2013 everything came to a hault when my drunken actions landed me in Jail for 2 weeks. At that point I truly realized what Christ had done for me on the cross and gave my life up to him. When I got out of jail I quit drinking and smoking completely, the jig was up my family knew everything, but they were there for me and supported me and I started going to church on a regular basis small group on monday and celebrate recovery on thursday I am now a year sober and going strong. I just thank god for saving my life!!
